Consultation Visit
Homebirth, Naturally offers a 1-hour consultation visit to anyone interested in learning more about our midwifery services. This is a chance for you to meet the midwife(s), ask questions and discern if this practice is a good fit for your maternity care needs.
Initial Visit
Your first appointment is generally longer than the rest (1 ½ hours) as it includes time to gather information about your medical and pregnancy history as well as review general paperwork. We also spend some time discussing appropriate diet in pregnancy.
Prenatal Visits
Prenatal visits occur once monthly until the 28th week of pregnancy, every two weeks until the 36th week of pregnancy, and every week thereafter until the birth (or as often as necessary depending on your individual situation). At least one visit will be made in your home. Prenatal visits typically last 1hour.
Labor and Birth
The time we have all been preparing for! We come to your home and stay as long as necessary supporting you throughout your birthing experience. One midwife will stay a minimum of 2-3 hours after the birth to complete a thorough newborn exam, suturing (if necessary), and ensure stability of both the birthing person and the newborn. We leave once everyone is tucked cozily into bed.
Postpartum Visits
Postpartum can be such a vulnerable and intense time for all birthing people and their families. In order to support families during this time, we make ourselves available 24/7 via phone as well as make regular visits to your home. A midwife completes 2-3 postpartum visits in your home followed by a 2-week and 6-week visit either in your home or at the office of the midwife.
Fees
Our fee is based on a sliding scale and includes all prenatal, birth and postpartum care. We are committed to serving those experiencing economic hardship and offer generous payment plans. Please contact us for more information regarding fees.
